SAVE YOURSELF

2 Kings 6:10 And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself [8104] there, not once nor twice.

Notice what we find Strong says where we read someone saved himself 8104

How often do we hear You can’t save yourself! Jesus did it all? But Jesus, Peter, Paul, John, James and Jude all told us in so many words to save ourselves by taking heed to the Word of God.

Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Notice that Peter did not give these men the answer which so many pastors and lukewarm (professing) Christians give to people today, who would ask the same question! He did NOT tell them There’s nothing you can do! Jesus did it all! You can’t add to the finished work of the cross!

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Act 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Did not these honest seekers of salvation save themselves by obeying the gospel? It’s the WORD that saves those who gladly receive it, isn’t? So by receiving the Word, they DID save themselves as Peter taught them to do.

1Ti 4:16  Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Does the Word save those who reject it? Do not they damn themselves by choosing not to DO it? Will not God judge every man according to the works he chooses to do or not to do?

Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

James sure never told the church there’s nothing you can do!

The Universalist insists that no one will be lost. He denies anyone can choose to save himself, since he denies anyone will be lost and cast into the lake of fire.

IF Jesus did it all, then wouldn’t EVERYONE be saved? If there is nothing you can do, as many assert, then either:

1. no one is given the opportunity to repent and obey Jesus,
or
2. that neither repentance or obedience are necessary, and Peter’s answer was WRONG!

If there’s nothing you do, then Jesus wasted His breath when He said:

  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Mat 7:21
If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. Luk 9:24
Luk 9:25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself (lose his own soul Mat 16:26), or be cast away?
Isn’t Jesus saying here how we must save ourselves so that we don’t lose our own soul and become cast away? Is it not by losing our lives that we save our lives?

It appears clear from Lk 9:25 and Matthew 16:26 that a person may become rich in this world and lose his own soul and become a castaway. Isn’t Jesus warning against doing this? Then there IS something we can and must do to be saved according to Jesus. Most are taught to reject Christ’s teachings, which are derided as a “works gospel” or a “works based salvation”.

Tit 1:16  They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

How can a living, working, obedient faith in the words of Jesus deny the atonement Jesus accomplished on the cross?

Jas 2:14  What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can [dead] faith save him?
Jas 2:26  For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Luk 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.

If we say there’s nothing we can do, aren’t we ashamed of Christ’s words, which tell us what we MUST do to save ourselves? If we’re ashamed of all Christ’s and His apostle’s warnings, and of every ‘if’ (which shows that every promise is conditional), how shall we stand before the Father and the angels on judgment day, when we will give account for every word we spoke and every act we did?

If we deny Him, He will also deny us. If we don’t believe that truth because we’ve made a covenant with death by believing once saved always saved, will that lie we’ve chosen to hide behind change God’s mind, and will He deny Himself, and not be faithful to DO what He said He would do to those who deny Him?

2Ti 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
2Ti 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
Isa 30:1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin
Isa 30:3 Therefore shall the strength of Egypt [the flesh] be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Pharoah[men] your confusion.

The “strength of Egypt” are the lies of the unsaved and hypocrites. It is confusion. The rebellious embrace this foolish and carnal counsel, and hide behind it like an ostrich with her head in a hole. It is a false sense of security. They add sin to sin, deceived into believing God can’t see their sins.

Eze 9:9 Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not.
2Tim 3:5 They only appear to have a godly life, but they will not let the power of godly living change them. Stay away from such people.
2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is disguised as an angel of light.
2Co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be disguised as ministers of righteousness; but their end will be according to their works.
2Co 11:4 (GNB) For you gladly tolerate anyone who comes to you and preaches a different Jesus, not the one we preached; and you foolishly accept a spirit and a gospel completely different from the Spirit and the gospel you received from us!

Gal 3:1  O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, after you clearly understood that Jesus Christ had been crucified?

Both the Galatians and the Corinthians were failing to save themselves from the lies of the false teachers. Similarly, this is also a great problem in most churches today. Many think they should be ‘nice’, and not confront false teachers and known sinners, or demand that they speak only scriptural doctrine and live godly. They let being ‘nice’ be their standard of conduct rather than the commands of Christ and the apostles, which tell us to forsake such an apostate.

Friend, SAVE YOURSELF from the lameness of being nice to false teachers and their lukewarm followers, and GET OUT OF those apostate churches, even if it means forsaking friends, relatives, a job, a wife, children, father, mother, opportunities, whatever. If your hand (deeds) cause you to offend God, CUT IT OFF AND CAST IT FROM YOU; it’s better to enter life without giving the right hand of fellowship to them than to hear Jesus tell you on that day “DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU WHO WORK INIQUITY”, and be cast into hell, where the worm dies not and the fire is not quenched.

Jesus said His mother, brothers, and sisters are only those who hear God’s Word and DO it, not just for a moment, but who endure sound doctrine, persecution, and hardships to the end. If we won’t hear and do what Jesus said: to separate from those who would interfere with His commandments and cause people to trust in a lie; to let them alone; to “come out of her my people, that you be not partakers of her sins, that you receive not of her plagues”, then we are but bastards, having forsaken being God’s sons or daughters. We MUST save ourselves from the ungodly; we MUST come out from among them and be separate, and touch not the unclean thing for God to receive us and be our Father.

This is no Sunday game or Saturday sport. Jesus hates lukewarmness; He said He will spew them out of His body who refuse to repent, and remain lukewarm.

1Ti 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
Rev 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
Rev 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Rev 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
Rev 2:3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Rev 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Rev 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
Rev 2:21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
Rev 2:22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
Rev 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
Rev 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Rev 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Rev 3:6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Jesus certainly never told any of these churches: There’s nothing you can do! I paid it all! You can’t add to the finished work done on the cross! Any works you do would only be a lame attempt to do so! You’re not under any law! I died to set you free from every law, even from every commandment I gave! You can’t do what I commanded, that’s why I had to go to the cross!

Paul said:
1Ti 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
1Ti 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputing of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

We MUST save ourselves from this untoward generation.

1Co 6:9  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
1Co 6:10  Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
1Co 6:11  And such were some of you

  1. 2 Kings 6:10 (BBE) So the king of Israel sent to the place where the man of God [Elijah] had said there was danger, and kept clear of it more than once.

    There is danger in the denominations. Everyone whose eyes are open and watching knows this. Save yourself from them and never form a bond with them, or they will seduce you into their sins.
